About the Author |
Dr. Barbara Bateman is one of the nation's best-known experts in special education law. She has written more than 90 books, monographs, book chapters and articles on special ed legal issues. A new edition of her well-known book, "Better IEPs: How to Develop Legally Correct and Educationally Useful Programs," was recently published. Dr. Bateman is a Fellow of the International Academy for Research in Learning Disabilities, a Trustee of the Reading Reform Foundation and member of the Board of Directors of the International Institute for Advocacy for School Children.
Dr. Annemieke Golly is a certified special education teacher and has taught children with behavior and conduct disorders for the past 18 years. Dr. Golly received her Ph.D., in Special Education at the University of Oregon. Her areas of expertise are Preventive Interventions, Behavior Management, Classroom and School-Wide Management. She is currently working at the Institute on Violence and Destructive Behavior at the University of Oregon as a teacher trainer and program director for a recently awarded legislative grant, the Oregon State Wide Initiative, which is designed to implement the First Step to Success Program state-wide in kindergarten classrooms. She is also implementing a recently awarded grant: Head Start Adaptation of First Step to Success: Preparing Children for Social/Emotional Success at School. |
